My mother is a model of extending hospitality to folks young and old.

I do not remember a holiday that we did not share with others.  My mother always welcomed newcomers to our church with an invitation to dinner and the offer of friendship.  She is 83 and going strong ...she works out regularly, and she’s a member of a quilt group and a book club.   She has “adopted” children without grandparents as her "grandchildren," making each feel special by attending events at 'grandparent's' day’ at their schools, teaching the children to knit and bake.  She is a wonderful model, showing that aging gracefully can be enriching to others as well as the self.
